To date Tara has won two ITF women’s titles, her second coming this year at the $10,000 event in Chiswick, a win that propelled Tara back in to the worlds top 500 following injury and illness. Now fully fit do not be surprised to see Tara dominating the very best players in the world with her exciting, attack from the get-go style of play.

2010 Highlights

Tara has had a solid 2010 by most players standards but for someone like Tara who has her eyes firmly on the top of the game, the success she has enjoyed in 2010 is not enough. Having returned from injury Tara reached the final of the $10,000 event in Edinburgh losing to training and some times doubles partner Timea Babos, from there Tara hit the grass where she represented Great Britain in the prestigious Maureen Connolly trophy going undefeated in the process beating the very best America had to offer. Tara’s winning streak continued on the grass as she beat WTA world number 89 Kai Chen Chang at the women’s event in Nottingham. Following on from there Tara played the junior events at Roehampton and Wimbledon and enjoyed wins against the reigning junior Australian Open champion and current junior Olympic champion and world number 1, winning 6-3 6-1 and 6-1 6-0 respectively on her way to the final of the Roehampton event, on to Wimbledon and Tara blasted her way to the quarter finals before losing to Laura Robson having been in charge for much of the match. Tara then won her first $25,000 title in the doubles at Wrexham beating the likes of Sania Mirza en route. Tara finished the summer by winning her second singles title of her professional career at the $10,000 event in Chiswick dropping one set along the way. By year end Tara had improved her WTA ranking from 790 to 335 making her one of the highest climbers in 2010 whilst giving the world a glimpse of what is to come.

Tara is a sociable and likeable character that is known and well liked by many players, coaches and fans all over the world. Her Chinese mother and English father live in Hong Kong whilst her grandparents live in South Yorkshire in the UK where she resides most of the time. She trains at GTC Academy in Hatfield, Hertfordshire. Tara is a supporter of Manchester United and enjoys watching them whenever the opportunity arises. Her favourite food is Japanese and she enjoys all types of music, Tara’s hobbies outside of tennis include listening to music and attending festivals, shopping and meeting up with friends.
